Severance package prohibits Sampson from suing

Former IU men’s basketball coach Kelvin Sampson’s severance agreement stipulates that he cooperate with IU during its investigation into five major recruiting violations alleged by the NCAA. \nThe severance agreement, obtained through an open records request filed by the Indiana Daily Student, says the following:\n• Sampson cannot try to persuade players to leave the IU program.\n• He shall not try to discourage current members from cooperating with the transition to a new coach.\n• The buyout agreement gives Sampson $750,000, and all but $200,000 will be supplied by an anonymous donor.\n• The severance agreement protects the University from a lawsuit from Sampson.\n• Sampson must cooperate with IU and attend the NCAA Committee of Infractions meeting June 14 in Seattle.
