Richard Swift -- "Kisses for the Misses"\nIn April, WIUX hosted its annual event Culture Shock in weather that could easily be described as "horrendous." However, we had an outstanding lineup, portable heaters and a great deal of help from family, friends and WIUX supporters. Richard Swift's "Kisses for the Misses" takes me back to huddling together with my friends in the rain while we enjoyed sets by Swift, Nomo, David Vandervelde and many others. Stay tuned for information on Culture Shock 2008, which is shaping up to be outstanding as well.

Yo La Tengo -- "Pass the Hatchet, I Think I'm Goodkind"\nThe last song played on 100.3 FM and the first to be played on 99.1 FM, this song clocks in at almost 11 minutes, and, in addition to being undeniably cool, it gave me enough time to run from the studio to our transmitter remote to make the frequency change at the stroke of midnight on June 5.

Justice -- "D.A.N.C.E."\nThere seems to be an underground-dance music boom in B-Town. With an increasing number of DJs spinning vinyl and mixing on laptops, there are abundant opportunities to go out and dance to different styles including drum 'n' bass, house, techno, hip-hop and more. WIUX began hosting its own dance parties this year and will continue to do so in the next year. WIUX's goal is to showcase different local DJs while providing a free and fun all-ages environment where you can get down.

Kashmere Stage Band -- "Thank You"\nWIUX would like to thank our loyal listeners, supporters and those who read our column. We would especially like to thank our friends at the IDS for letting us have our say each week and for being so accommodating. It's been a great year for WIUX, and we want to thank all of you with some sweet, soulful, funk from Texas.
