Jacob, I would think you like not being compared to Chase Cooper. Yes, you might espouse ideas that run in the face of the majority of IU’s students, but at least you express them in a rational manner, unlike the mean-spirited partisan bent that is Chase’s forte.\nHowever, you did say something in your column that I take issue with. You imply that Democrats should be happy with the increase in government size under the “Republican” administration of George Bush. This assumes that Democrats just LOVE big government, no matter what or who that government is working for. Not true. Democrats want government to work for people, not corporations, and for the common good, not what’s good for a small percentage of people. Democrats want government to be better, not bigger. Cutting taxes for the rich while sending people to war is not the policy of any sane man, let alone a Republican.\nSo Jacob, please continue to be sane, if not agreeable.\nBrendan Roberts\nIU sophomore
