The editorial by Peter Chen (“Curses!” Sept. 21), though initially seeming to have good intent, quickly lowered itself into the very cesspool of profanity it was seeking to condemn.\nTo point out the flaws and ask for corrections in our leaders and role models is commendable behavior, and I encourage that. But to criticize an action and then engage in the very same is no better than the pot calling the kettle black.\nI was very saddened to see this poor excuse for a political commentary published in the IDS. And though I share some of Mr. Chen’s sentiments, I would have hoped for a better and more reasoned piece from what I used to consider a professional paper.\nThe fact that the IDS allowed this piece to be published with the profanity and poor journalism intact shows the true standards and values of the IDS – criticism without consistency or substance.\nNeedless to say, I will no longer be supporting the IDS until it has shown that it has higher standards than those exhibited this week.
