Police arrest man for fondling himself in public\nA man from Princeton, N.J., was arrested Saturday evening after exposing himself in Big Lots, 3620 W. Third St., according to a police report read by Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Faron Lake.\nGerman Lopez, 36, was standing in an aisle of Big Lots when a girl walked by and noticed he had his hands down his pants, Lake said. Lopez turned around and fondled himself in front of the girl, the report said. She quickly alerted her mother, who told security about the incident.\nLopez fled the store and was located by officers in front of Blockbuster, 3707 W. Third St., and arrested on charges of vicarious sexual gratification, a felony, the report said.
Car crash injures state trooper\nThree of four crashes last week sent Indiana State Police troopers to the hospital, one in serious condition. The latest crash occurred Thursday morning on State Road 37 south of Third Street when Master Trooper John Patrick, 40, was rear-ended in his police cruiser by a flatbed pickup truck while attempting to assist another state trooper with an ongoing traffic stop. The driver of the truck was Johnny Lash, 37, of Springville, Ind., according to a State Police media release.
Police respond to one successful, one attemped robbery\nPolice have made no arrests this week after one successful robbery and another attempted one.\nA gas station on Bloomington’s West side was robbed Sunday morning when a man entered the store, jumped the counter and took an undisclosed amount of money from the register, according to a police report read by Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Faron Lake.\nPolice say the suspect, who robbed the Circle K, 503 W. Kirkwood Ave., is described as a black male in his 40s who was about 5 feet 10 inches tall. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a loose-fitting hockey-style shirt, blue jeans and a black bandana that partially covered his face, Lake said. \nEarlier in the weekend, a suspect wearing women’s clothing attempted to rob an Old National Bank branch. \nA note passed by an unidentified person to the teller of the bank, 121 E. Kirkwood Ave., Friday evening around 5 p.m., said “Don’t call the cops. Give me money,” BPD Sgt. Faron Lake said.\nLake said it is still unclear whether the would-be robber was a man or a woman, though the suspect was wearing a floral shirt and some type of large woman’s floppy hat.
