Arson reported at Arlington Heights Elementary School\nArlington Heights Elementary School, 700 W. Parrish Rd., received partially burned mail Saturday, said BPD Sgt. Jeff Canada, reading from a police report. \nThe principal of the school said this is the third case of arson the school has had within a year. In May, a dumpster was set on fire and another dumpster had been set on fire about a year before that, Canada said. \nThere are currently no suspects, and the school has requested that police provide extra patrol of the area.

Toddler bit by pit bull on her leg, dog not immunized\nA pit bull bit a 1-year-old at a 7-Eleven convenience store, 1122 W. 11th St., at around 8:50 p.m. Saturday. \nAccording to a police report, a girl was walking on the street with her brother when she noticed the dog. She went to pick up her brother when the dog became excited and bit the child on the leg. The child was taken to Bloomington Hospital, 601 W. Second St., and received stitches. \nAnimal control determined that the dog had not been vaccinated. The owner of the dog was cited with a Class B misdemeanor for harboring a nonimmunized animal.

Man threatens to kill wife, resists arrest\nA Bloomington man was arrested Monday night after a domestic dispute. \nGerald Calkins, 64, faces charges of intimidation, assault and resisting law enforcement.\nPolice officers were called to the 3300 block of North Kinser Pike when the victim, 66, said her husband threatened to kill her. \nAccording to police reports, Calkins told BPD Officer Jeffrey Rees he was going to bed because his wife was lying and he hadn’t done anything wrong. Calkins proceeded to push Rees. \nOfficer Joseph Henry attempted to handcuff Calkins, at which point Calkins' dog bit him. The dog was not injured and was transported to animal control.
