John R. Myers II received a 65-year sentence, the maximum sentence allowed, Friday in the 2000 murder of IU student Jill Behrman.\nJudge Christopher Burnham said in court that aggravating factors such as the fact that investigators say Behrman was naked when she was killed and the way she died, a gunshot wound to the back of the head, lead to the maximum sentence.\nOutside of court, Myers' attorney Patrick Baker said the defense plans to file for an appeal. The defense has 30 day file. He said allegations of "jury misconduct" that came from a transcript of jurors' interviews in which some jury members likened evening conduct to a "fraternity party" will be an issue in the appeal process.\nIn court, Baker argued that mitigating circumstances, such as the fact that Myers has an 11- and 13-year-old daughter, should be a reason for a reduced sentence.
