New Colts stadium seats to be wider, have more padding

INDIANAPOLIS -- The new Indianapolis Colts stadium will have more comfortable seats.\n"This will probably be the one amenity most fans will talk about," said David Frick, chairman of the Indiana Stadium and Convention Building Authority.\nThe Lucas Oil Stadium will have 20-inch-wide general admission seats, compared to an average of 19 inches at the RCA Dome. Club seats will be 21 inches wide, and suites will have upholstered seats that are up to 24 inches wide with 2 to 3 inches of padding. Some suite seats will also recline.\nThe Indiana Stadium and Convention Building Authority awarded an $11.3 million contract for nearly 63,000 seats at the new stadium Tuesday to Irwin Seating Co. of Grand Rapids, Mich.\nColts season ticket holder Ryan Overman, 28, of Southport, said he will be happy to trade his bench seat at the RCA Dome for a seat with a back and armrest.\n"As the game goes on, the benches seem harder and harder, so it will be a welcome change," he said.\nThe retractable-roof stadium is scheduled to be completed in 2008.
