IU falls to Ohio Bobcats 1-0

Hoosiers return to Big Ten play after 1-0 loss

After ending a three-game losing streak with an 11-3 home win against Indiana State, the IU softball team hoped to string together some wins to push its record above .500. Despite a strong outing from senior pitcher Megan Roark, the Hoosiers lost to the Ohio University Bobcats 1-0 in Athens yesterday.\nThe loss dropped IU's \nrecord back to an even .500 (21-21-1), while the Bobcats moved to 23-26.\nRoark allowed just one run on four hits, with no strikeouts and two walks.\nUnlike their last game against IU-Purdue University Fort Wayne where the IU defense committed three errors, the hitting could not pick up the slack for the Hoosiers against Ohio.\nIU out-hit the Bobcats 6-4, but could not come through with runners in scoring position.\nThe team was lead on \noffense by freshman shortstop Stephanie Pellerito, \nho went 2-for-4 on the day with a \npair of singles. Seniors Lauren Hines and Mariangee Bogado were among a group of \nfour other players who contributed one hit off the Bobcat pitching staff.\nThe team will return home for the weekend as it resumes Big Ten competition. \nThe Hoosiers will host Wisconsin and Iowa at the IU Softball Field.
