Student arrested after running from police

On the way to a 911 misdial response at 3 a.m. Tuesday, officers observed a student urinating on the side of the road near the intersection of Sixth Street and Indiana Avenue, said IU Police Department Lt. Jerry Minger.\nPolice say Stephen Suomela was holding himself up with a one-way traffic stop sign and when officers approached him, he began running north through Dunn Meadow.\nAccording to the report, they ordered him to stop, identified themselves as police officers and pursued him. The subject stumbled several times as he ran for approximately 100 yards, Minger said.\nMinger said that at that point, the suspect fell down and the officers almost tripped over him. Officers handcuffed the subject and charged him with drunkenness, indecent exposure and resisting law enforcement.
