Next up to attempt entertainment industry domination? Jamie Foxx. With an Oscar already on his mantle, and the success of "Golddigger," the amazingly successful collaboration with Kanye West, a solo album seemed inevitable. Funny how things change. In a former life Jamie Foxx played himself on a TV sitcom about a struggling singer living and working at his families hotel to make ends meet. Sadly the show was canceled seemingly sending Foxx into the ocean of obscurity that has swallowed up the careers of so many promising talents starved for exposure. \nLong story short, Foxx is now living it up as he hasn't been able to do any wrong lately. But isn't this where several actors always go wrong, attempting to do more than they can, ending up eventually on VH1's worst songs ? Fortunately Foxx seemed just as concerned, enlisting a plethora of super producers and guest artists. This combination provides the back drop for an album encompassing the naughty and nice, with an array of love songs, and lusty tales.\nThe single "Unpredictable" exemplifies the CD's tone. Foxx defies century old logic insisting that "1+1 ain't 2" with him, and even more "C doesn't come after A and B." Although his argument is not backed up by any scholarly evidence the song is easier on the ears than the warmest ear muffs. Songs like "Warm Bed" and "three letter word," expose Jamie as the bachelor he is. With lyrics suggesting sex is more powerful than love (his words not mine) it is clear that Jamie has his priorities in order.\nJamie reaches into his bag of tricks and pulls out a truly deep and inspiring moment on "You still got it," a song, featuring rapper Common, to a pregnant woman feeling insecure about her beauty.\n Foxx's downfall, however, may be his lack of lyrical prowess as several songs sound like he broke into R. Kelly's musical wastebasket. Still the album is perfect for the bedroom, or a catalyst to get others to join you there, and with enough luck you might just get to listen to Jamie Foxx there.
