There is no better way for Cameron Diaz to have made a comeback then to star in "In Her Shoes," a story to which every sister can relate. As Curtis Hanson makes a transition from his last directorial feature, "8 Mile," he couldn't have picked a better cast to star in this adaptation of author Jennifer Weiner's best-selling novel.\nDiaz plays Maggie Fuller, a free-spirited, irresponsible party girl who often clashes with her straight-edged, job-oriented sister, Rose, played by Toni Collette. Diaz spends the first half hour of the movie as an unemployed party girl who mooches off of her successful sister. But then the sisters have a fight -- Rose begins to re-think her career and Maggie begins to realize her irresponsible ways and flees town to find her estranged grandmother, who lives in Miami. \nThe time spent crashing at her grandmother's home in a retirement center teaches Maggie a few life lessons that bring out a side to her character the audience can firmly relate to. I spent the entire movie thinking how each scene can relate to my life, as it can definitely make you stop and think how we take our family and life for granted. \nThroughout the movie we see Rose take time off from her career to think about where she is in life. It isn't until Rose gets engaged that she begins to worry and wonder where her sister has gone. She wants to get in touch with her sister to share the great news. As the movie progresses, Maggie changes from a cocktail-drinking party girl to an entrepreneur among her grandmother's friends. During the entire movie I rooted for Maggie to straighten herself out and reconcile with the sister she clearly misses. \nI left the theater with a warm, happy feeling that caused me to call my sister and let her know exactly how much I cherish our relationship. The characters and the plot in this film are so realistic that any audience member (especially the females) could relate to it in some way or another. It seems Hollywood today is so focused on technology and special effects that they neglect to make realistic, touching and truthful movies like "In Her Shoes."\nFor any girl, I recommend seeing this movie with your sister, mother or grandmother, as you are left walking out of the theatre with the glowing feeling of wanting to just hug them. I couldn't have asked for a more satisfying movie.
