'Kinsey' star, director to attend premiere at IU Auditorium

Laura Linney, Bob Condon to answer questions after film

The makers of a new movie based on the life of IU's famous sex researcher Alfred Kinsey will be appearing at the IU Auditorium Saturday night for a Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender and Reproduction benefit.\nDirected by Academy Award-winner Bill Condon, "Kinsey" profiles the first academic to get people to start talking about sex. \nKinsey's best-selling 1948 book, "Sexual Behavior in the Human Male," helped launch the sexual revolution and turned Kinsey into a celebrity, even to the point of landing him on the cover of Time magazine. In 1953, Kinsey followed up his bestseller with "Sexual Behavior in the Human Female." Both books changed the way the world perceived sexuality, a subject that used to be heavily guarded and rarely discussed.\nCondon and actress Laura Linney will attend the benefit, which starts at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the IU Auditorium. Linney plays Kinsey's wife Clara McMillen in the film.\nAs part of the benefit, IU will be home to a screening of the film, which is only open on limited release this weekend and not yet playing in Bloomington. \nAdmission to the benefit costs $50 and includes a reception and a chance to mingle with Condon and Linney before the screening. The reception will last until 7:30 p.m.\nTickets to attend the screening alone are available for $20. These seats are restricted to the upper level of the auditorium. The doors open at 7:20 p.m. for those attending just the screening. After the movie, Condon and Julia Heiman, director of the Kinsey Institute, will have a question and answer session with the audience about Kinsey's life and research. \nTickets can be purchased online at http://www.indiana.edu/~kinsey/about/film-event.html#tickets. This site also contains a link for those wishing to submit questions for the question and answer session.
