Successful writer Mort Rainey, played brilliantly by Johnny Depp, finds himself stalked by Shooter (John Turturro), a man who claims that Mort stole one of his story ideas. Scary things start happening as Mort tries to prove to Shooter, that he did not steal the story and, in fact, Mort's story was published a couple of years before Shooter claims he wrote it. Mort is also attempting to go through a painful divorce from his wife Amy (Maria Bello), whom Mort found in bed with Ted (Timothy Hutton). \n"Secret Window" is an incredibly complex and interesting movie. Based on Stephen King's novella "Secret Window, Secret Garden," the film has many plot twists, including a great "Oh, I get it now!" moment at the end. The actors did a fabulous job, especially the über-talented Depp. \nThe DVD has some intriguing special features. There is commentary by director David Koepp, and a few deleted scenes, including the original expanded ending. There is also a section with computer-generated renditions of a few scenes. These imitations are slightly interesting, but will probably only interest the up-and-coming filmmaker and/or special effects wizard. The three featurettes, containing over 50 minutes of film, are incredibly interesting. Various cast and crew, including the actors and director, discuss aspects of the filmmaking process, including characters, setting, book adaptation and the general feel of the film. The featurettes get very in-depth with how this film was made. Noticeably lacking, however, was commentary by King. Finding out what he thought about the film and characters would have been incredibly insightful and interesting, not to mention very entertaining. However, even with the lack of a King interview, "Secret Window" achieves success with its special features.
