Acclaimed authors to read works at Writers' Conference\nThe Writers' Conference will welcome acclaimed authors Li-Young Lee and Jean Thompson to read their works at 8 p.m. tonight in the Whittenberger Auditorium.\nLee, a world-renowned poet, has been recognized by The American Poetry Review as "one of the finest young poets alive." Much of Lee's poetry focuses on his family's exile from Indonesia. He is the author of three volumes of poetry.\nThompson has written four novels and three collections of short stories. Her collection of stories titled, "Who Do You Love," was a finalist for the National Book Award and a New York Times Notable Book. \nThe readings are free and open to the public. Fourth of July fireworks held at Memorial Stadium\nAmvets Post 2000 will sponsor a fireworks spectacle beginning at dusk Sunday at Memorial Stadium.\nThe display will feature more than 30,000 pyrotechnics. IU offers long Independence Day weekend\nStudents will enjoy a long weekend this week as summer classes will not be in session in observance of Independence Day. Regularly scheduled classes will resume Tuesday.
