The Fun Police are here!

I'm not sure how to feel about "Club Dread." My "Super Troopers" DVD has been watched and borrowed so many times that my expectations for Broken Lizard's follow-up to their underground hit may have been too high. Those looking for another "Troopers" might be disappointed, but this slasher flick/comedy hybrid is still fun to watch with plenty of hilarious moments.\nBroken Lizard nails the conventions of horror romps to a tee, secluding the main characters away from any civilization on Coconut Pete's Pleasure Island and making every kill in the movie a nice little scare. Yet sometimes it feels as if the slasher flick framework becomes so important that more comedic moments are sacrificed for carnage. On the plus side, there are some priceless moments like a gag about Pac-Man that make it worth the price of admission.\nThe only real extras on the DVD are two commentaries from the insightful Broken Lizard troupe. It may not be much, but a good commentary is enough for me.\nI feel bad being so harsh on this movie because it's one of those that will probably get better the more I see it … but I know Broken Lizard can, and will, do better.
