David Cross helped propel "Mr. Show" into becoming one of the greatest, albeit underrated, comedy shows of all time. Since the show's felonious cancellation, Cross has become America's premiere "alternative comic" (a term I feel dirty for using).\nOn It's Not Funny, Cross provides his usual jaded, brutally honest take on politics, the Iraqi conflict, babies and nu-metal. Cross' delivery and courage on stage are impeccable, a rarity amongst today's stand-ups. He doesn't rely solely on punch lines, nor does he rely on shock value. The audience is clearly taken aback when he blatantly uses the n-word when making fun of racist republicans, yet Cross gracefully (in his own little way) acknowledges this by finding even more humor in it. Many would not have the audacity to take on such a topic, but he does and does it very well.\nMy only gripe with Cross is that his jaded cynicism can sometimes be a bit overbearing when he chooses to not let go of a topic. His rants are excellent, and sometimes beating a dead horse is good for him, but there are other times when gags run out of steam and he needs to move on.\nAside from that, Cross's latest outing is hilarious and highly recommended.
