Small businesses in Bloomington will soon have another place to call home as Inventure will hold its grand opening Thursday.\nInventure, a new facility located in the IU Research Park, created by a network of Bloomington services, including IU, the Indiana Small Business Development Center and Bloomington, will cater to entrepreneurs in Bloomington.\nInventure will provide a number of services that are helpful to people looking to create a business, Assistant Vice President for Administration Lynn Coyne said.\n"We provide space that an entrepreneur can rent to run their operation," Coyne said. "The other services range from a wide area including, but not limited to, helping with a business plan, assistance with working on a project, locating resources at Indiana University and helping with the initial stages of creating a business." \nProgram directors said Inventure's primary objective is to create more businesses in Bloomington and surrounding areas while bringing jobs that lead to less pollution to the area. \nThe Inventure facility will focus on assisting any entrepreneurial venture related to biotechnology, life sciences and information technology. Although other entrepreneurial ideas will be welcomed, they must be services related to one of these areas. \nAlthough Inventure does not offer funding to businesses, an information workshop will be held on how to raise money. Inventure also will be networking and linking individuals with sources of venture capital to further develop funding. \nFor those who are interested in sharing their ideas and creating their own business in life sciences and information technology, Coyne said it will be a good choice to attend, as it could be a way to start a successful new business. \n"We are ultimately trying to provide employment to develop job growth in the area," Coyne said.
