After listening to a wide selection of local bands which will be playing at the upcoming Live From Bloomington annual concerts, I see now that there truly is a plethora of untapped talent in this very city. Not only that, but the sheer diversity, not to mention sound quality, of the music is astounding. \nTo highlight a few of the 16 featured groups, Urban Grooves provides uptempo jazz in their song "Goin' Places," Proyecto Herencia puts a Latin spin on their self-titled jazzy tune, Well Fed uses melodic vocal harmonies and heavy distortion in their pop punk song "Blisters," and Divine Definition throws down some quality beats and funny rhymes on their rap number "Fourwordmovement," which sounds extremely well produced. \nOther Bloomington notables featured on the disc include The Swell, East Race, The Tribute, Saxophone Cartel and Handbook for William to name a few. \nThis CD has songs for music lovers of all tastes. You are guaranteed to hear at least one song which will tickle your fancy, and who knows, you may find a new favorite band. I sure did. I had only heard the name Burning Couches, but after listening to their song "Don't Rub," I am a huge fan. \nIn the very least, this compilation will give you an earful of what is going down with the Bloomington music scene. For that reason alone it is worth checking out. And be sure to check out these bands at Live From Bloomington tonight at various local venues.
