Several years ago, vocalist Phil Anselmo stopped speaking to guitarist Dimebag Darrell and drummer Vinnie Paul -- hence, Pantera was no more. Anselmo made his critically lauded side project Down a full-time gig, and then moved onto fan favorite Superjoint Ritual. Meanwhile, Dimebag and Vinnie moved onto a steaming pile of crap otherwise known as Damageplan. \nLacking Pantera's brutal riffs and epic production values, but retaining Dimebag's whack solos, listening to Damageplan is like watching Muhammad Ali force out an "I am the greatest" for his fans; it makes you sad to think about how awesome it used to be. \nThe title track and a few other songs are decent, but Damageplan are a step down from Pantera, and don't have the power and urgency of Anselmo's bands. While Damageplan is better than a lot of faux-metal bands on commercial radio, they are still a huge disappointment and will never crawl out of the shadow of their last band until they do something which can stand up to Pantera's body of work. I recommend that anyone who makes the mistake of acquiring this record, burn it while circle pitting around the fire chanting, "SU-PER-JOINT! SU-PER-JOINT"
'New Found Power' to suck
