Online bidding has begun for former men's basketball coach Bob Knight's former Bloomington home. The 4,660-square-foot property, located 10 minutes from campus, has been offered up for sale by current owner Scott Swaffer, a Bloomington resident. \nBoasting a "rare opportunity to live in the house formerly owned by 'The General,'" the www.eBay.com post lauds the house's private surroundings and "incredible" master bath, among other amenities. \nKnight sold the house, which he lived in for the last 16 years of his tenure at Assembly Hall, to Bloomington resident Swaffar last March. It was built in 1982. \nAccording to Monroe County property records, the house's net worth is assessed at $275,000. The highest bid on eBay is currently $397,500 -- in an area where the regional household average income is $30,000, and the average home value stands at around $100,000. \nBidding opened on the house, which stands on 4.6 acres in outer Monroe County, Jan. 29. It features four bedrooms and four bathrooms, as well as a 52-foot sunroom, a large study with adjacent bath and custom-built cabinetry and shelving. The 300-square-foot master bath features six skylights, a jetted tub and a steam room.\nKnight, who coached the Hoosiers to three NCAA victories, was terminated by the University in September 2000 following a series of verbal altercations and, what former president Myles Brand termed, "uncivil, defiant and unacceptable" behavior. He currently coaches the men's basketball team at Texas Tech University.
