Students to take part in national teleconference\nIU students will participate in the first national teleconference on student civic engagement Thursday, as one of 50 groups participating in 23 states. The Community Outreach and Partnerships in Service-Learning is sponsoring the event at IU and the Midwest Collaboration of Campus Contacts is hosting the actual teleconference. \nThe event will focus on The New Student Politics document and student civic engagement as part of the national "Raise Your Voice: Student Action for Change" campaign. It will feature a number of national experts on social and political change.\nStudents can participate by logging on to the live Web stream at www.wmsu.org.\nHillel to host falafel- eating contest Feb. 23\nThe Helene G. Simon Hillel Center will host its first-ever falafel ball eating contest at 7 p.m. Monday Feb. 23 in the McNutt Conference Dining Hall. Falafel, made from deep fried chick peas, is a popular delicacy in Israel. \nAnyone can participate in the event and no prior sign-up is required. Prizes and t-shirts will be awarded to winners. The event will also feature a buffet of traditional Israeli foods, such as hummus, Israeli salad, pita and falafel. \nThere is an entry fee of $2 to participate in the eating contest, with all proceeds going to charities, including the local boys and girls club to help with their literacy program, the Komen Breast Cancer Research Organization or the World Wildlife Fund.\nFor more information, contact Hillel at 336-3824.\nLeap-year birthday students wanted\nIf your birthday falls on Feb. 29 and you would like to be interviewed for a story, send an e-mail to campus@idsnews.com.
