The IU Alumni Association announced the creation of a new position responsible for overall communication activities at the organization, including development of new initiatives on the Internet, editorial content of the IUAA Web site and efforts to increase IUAA's visibility.\nCynthia Schultz, a former technology consultant based in Bloomington, was selected for the position Monday. \nIUAA President Ken Beckley said creating the position was critical to helping make alumni aware of the association and its work.\n"Cynthia has rich experience in Web communications, and she will be a wonderful leader of our electronic communications," Beckley said in a statement. "And she also possesses experience in other forms of communication."\nSchultz said the job is perfect for her as she prepares her first steps.\n"I need to make an investment up-front in thoroughly understanding the current situation," Schultz said. \nSchultz said she will work with other IUAA staff members to refine and implement the association's strategic plan for communication. The IUAA works to make certain that alumni understand the value and importance of the association in its role of serving them and IU, Beckley said.
