The rock revival is still in full force and while it's easy to criticize all the bands hopping on the New York of '78 bandwagon, there is merit to be found in some of these bands. You guessed it -- the Star Spangles is one such example. Their album, Bazooka!!!, has an energy and enthusiasm that is hard to find in any genre of music.\nTheir song "I Live for Speed" ("I ain't got money/ future's not too sunny") is reminiscent of Johnny Thunders' "Born to Lose", while the simple guitars and spitting vocals bring to mind none other than The Ramones. Yet the Ramones, in all honesty, could never pull off such simple, yet heart-wrenching anthems. The Star Spangles are hopelessly in love with Sheila the Punk Rocker and are here to tell us all about it: "She's got my poster on the wall…and when I stare into that space/ I always see that face."\nYet the Star Spangles somehow manage to pull it off, and perhaps their ability to come across as authentic is due to the emotional earnestness and vulnerability of their songs. Titles such as "I'll Get Her Back" and "I Don't Want to Be Crazy Anymore" make this the perfect album for dancing your heart out.
This Bazooka's bubble won't burst
