Historical marker stolen\nLAFAYETTE -- A historical marker commemorating the burning of a Wea Indian village has been stolen.\nTippecanoe County Historical Association officials delayed announcing the August theft because they at first thought a vehicle had struck the sign, said Kevin O'Brien, the group's executive director.\nThe sign, which was near Tippecanoe County Road 375 West and Indiana 25 was likely damaged when it was removed and will have to be repaired, he said.\nThe 3-foot horizontal sign is valued at about $1,800. The historical association has offered a cash reward for its return.\nThe marker recognized the burning of the Wea villages of Ouiatenon by Gen. Charles Scott in 1791.\nMen wearing 'FBI' jackets rob credit union\nMIDDLEBURY, Ind. -- Two armed men dressed like FBI agents robbed a credit union in northern Indiana, authorities said.\nThe men, who were carrying assault rifles, were wearing ski masks and dark jackets with "FBI" on the backs in large yellow letters, said Greg Thomas, marshal of the town near the Michigan border about 16 miles east of Elkhart.\nNo one was injured in the holdup about 10:30 a.m. Monday at Farm Bureau Credit Union, Thomas said. Only one customer was in the credit union when the men entered and demanded money from the vault.\nThe men were described as white, at least 6 feet tall and 200 pounds.\nAfter the robbery, the men fled the scene in a dark green or black Ford Mustang convertible with a light colored top, police said.\nThe FBI and Middlebury police are investigating the robbery.
