If you find the perfect parking place, you'll never move.\nAnd that's exactly the problem.\n"Our number one dissatisfaction on user surveys is parking everywhere on campus," said Steve Heeter, assistant director for member services for the Division of Recreational Sports.\nHeeter and his colleagues are currently working with student groups and campus leaders to address the issue of parking at the Student Recreational Sports Center. \nThe problem is that people are parking in the SRSC lot to go to class instead of using the workout facilities, said Kimberly Ruff, director of marketing for Recreational Sports. \n"We're looking at different options in order to provide for students who are using the facility and not people who are parking there and going to class, for instance," Ruff said. "Our interest is to provide for our users."\nJunior Jo Guthrie usually drives to the SRSC to work out between 9 and 11 a.m., and she usually has trouble finding a parking spot.\n"I always have to wait around behind a bunch of cars," she said. "I see people walking from their cars; it's obvious that they're going to class and not the SRSC. It's really frustrating."\nAccording to the SRSC Web site, there are 168 parking spaces in the SRSC lot for A, C, D and E permit holders. There is also metered public parking.\nHeeter and Ruff said different options for the lot are being discussed, but nothing has been decided yet. One of these options is to turn the lot into a pay lot, much like the one at the Indiana Memorial Union. Students who use the SRSC would then get their ticket validated, and therefore not have to pay for parking. \nThis issue has also been discussed recently among student groups. The Student Advisory Board, a group of leaders who represent various campus groups, met with Dean Richard McKaig last week to discuss campus issues, and parking came up.\n"People who want to work out aren't getting the spaces at the SRSC," said Judd Arnold, vice president of the IU Student Associa-tion. "It's a good idea to address this."\nRuff agreed.\n"Back in 1996 when we built the SRSC we knew (parking) was going to be a problem. It was supposed to have a parking lot, but that idea was scrapped at the last minute because of costs," Ruff said. "We really need to address the parking situation"
