Noonan rewrites record books

Forward leads midfielder duo recover from injuries

After leading IU to a 1-1 record on their West Coast road trip last weekend and tallying three of the four Hoosier goals and one assist, senior forward Pat Noonan was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. This marks the fourth conference Offensive Player of the Week award Noonan has garnered this season and the seventh of his career.\nNoonan paces the Hoosiers with 34 points on 13 goals and eight assists as IU has a 13-2-2 record heading into this weekend's final regular season match against IUPUI. In his last two matches against the Jaguars, Noonan has netted three total goals and will look to add to that in Sunday's match.\nHis 13 goals on the season have pushed Noonan into seventh all-time on IU's career goals list and he is just two assists shy of breaking the top 10 in assists. Noonan's 34 points also give him 124 points for his career which is enough to tie him with Pat McGauley for seventh all-time. With 70 shots on the year, Noonan has also eclipsed the 300 shot total in his four years and needs just 15 more shots to move past Ken Snow for second on IU's all-time shot list.\nCurrently Noonan is averaging two points per game, which has him tied for 16th in the nation in that category. His 34 points also put him at ninth in the country in that statistic. Noonan's seven points in the two games on the West Coast were vital as the Hoosiers lost sophomore midfielder Ned Grabavoy in the first game of the weekend against Cal-State Fullerton.\nGrabavoy went down with a high ankle sprain just 15 minutes into the Fullerton match and did not return to action for the rest of the weekend. Grabavoy participated in warm-ups for IU's match with UC Santa Barbara, but freshman Brian Plotkin got the starting nod.\nThe Hoosiers are optimistic about the chance of having Grabavoy back for the match with IUPUI on Sunday, Nov. 3. Sophomore defensive midfielder Danny O'Rourke will again be sidelined after having surgery two weeks ago on four bones broken in his face after colliding with senior teammate Phil Presser in warm-ups prior to IU's game versus Northwestern. O'Rourke is looking to return to the IU lineup for the Hoosiers' first game in the Big Ten Championships which will be Friday, Nov. 15, at University Park, Penn. O'Rourke is being fitted for a mask that would allow him to play while trying to avoid further injury.
