Honorary IU law alumni academy selects members\nFive graduates of the Indiana School of Law have been chosen for induction into the Academy of Law Alumni Fellows. Induction into the Academy is the highest honor given to graduates of the School of Law.\nJoseph T. Bumbleburg, J.D. '61, is a senior member and president of the law firm of Ball Eggleston Bumbleburg McBride Walkey and Stapleton in Lafayette, Ind. Laura J. Cooper, who earned a J.D. in '74, has taught Civil Procedure, Conflicts, Labor Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution at the University of Minnesota Law School. Frederick F. Eichhorn, J.D. '57, is currently the president of the IU Board of Trustees. Independent energy and public policy consultant Rufus W. McKinney received a J.D. in '56. Ronald S. Reinstein, J.D. '73, is a family court judge on the Maricopa County Superior Court in Phoenix, Ariz. The inductees will be honored Oct. 11, during IU Law School's annual alumni weekend.\nIU study says alcoholism and genealogy linked\nThe IU School of Medicine conducted a laboratory experiment which revealed people with a family history of alcoholism may develop a tolerance which allows them to drink more without feeling intoxicated. \nParticipants in the experiment who had family histories of alcoholism reported higher feelings of intoxication when exposed to alcohol than their counterparts without such family histories. However, those with a history of the disease in their family relatives adapted quicker to alcohol than others in the study. \nThe study included 58 people with a known family history of alcoholism and 58 people with no known history of the disease in their family.\nFor more information about the study go to the IU School of Medicine's Web site at www.medicine.indiana.edu.
