Afghanistan is my country and Afghans are my people. We are not terrorists, but a suffering nation. For years Afghanistan has been afflicted with foreign invasions, starting with the Soviet war in 1979 and now the Talibans. Under the Talibans, Afghans are prisoners in their own country. \nAfter, the U.S. aided Afghanistan in fighting against their enemy -- Communism. The U.S. then pulled out of Afghanistan in their greatest time of need. They left the Afghan people and their economy in devastation. \nWith the Russians gone, who was to take control? Civil war broke out and gave rise to the former fundamentalist group, Talibans. Now the question is, who are the Talibans? Who created them? I, like every other American, have been searching for the truth. \nWho is to blame for the deaths of all those innocent civilians in the World Trade Center? Who is to blame for the innocent deaths in Afghanistan? Who is to blame for the deaths of innocent children and civilians in Palestine? In Kashmir? In Iraq? \nWe are always ready to blame the other person, but yet what we don't realize every time we point fingers at someone, is that three fingers of our own hand point right back at us. After the Soviet War, surrounding nations had their interests in Afghanistan. Everyone wanted a piece of the pie! The Talibans were not only created and supported by surrounding nations, such as Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, but also by the US. I call it corruption in politics and in our governments. In the end, the civilians pay the price. \nHow many more innocent people have to die because of economic and international interests of a few nations? Where was the world when my people were suffering of hunger, of drought, of their government -- not only in Afghanistan but also in all other nations around the world? What does it matter what nation you're from or what religion you practice, we are all humans and we must not stereotype and blame one another, but rather reach out a helping hand to those in need.
Where was the U.S. before?
