Feeling overweight or out of shape? Stuck in your workout routine, or searching for a new one? Trying to avoid the freshman 15? Fortunately, you now have someone to turn to for the answers to all of your workout and fitness-related questions. I am here to provide solutions to your queries and assist you in understanding exactly how your body works, and what it will take to make you look and feel great.\nAllow me to introduce myself. My name is Brian Haney, and I am a junior journalism major who has been personal training for about four years. I'm a health and fitness nut, and I have turned it into a real hobby. Since my youth, athletics and fitness have been major parts of my life. I grew up in a private, all-boys school environment. There, I competed athletically; fueling my desire to achieve physically and test myself. But I struggled with my workouts. \nI didn't understand what to do or why and had trouble finding someone knowledgeable enough to assist me. Two family friends decided to go on a business venture and buy the Gold's Gym national franchise. As the new owners, they gave everyone in my family promotional memberships, and started encouraging us to use the local gyms. It was there I finally found the help I so desperately needed. \nI was approached one day by a trainer, and his corrections made the most dramatic difference. I realized then that I knew very little about exercise and proper technique. \nI received my primary certification from National Strength Professionals Association before my freshman year in college, and have continued training and learning, taking classes here at IU and working over the summer at home in Washington, D.C.\nMy background as an athlete, and my experience as a personal trainer, has led me to notice one critical observation about fitness:\nA majority of people who are interested in fitness and getting in shape unfortunately find themselves lost, lacking results or stuck in their routines. For whatever reason, many people cannot achieve goals they set. There are many misconceptions holding people back, and sometimes people are intimidated and have not asked for help. Some just feel that doing something is better than doing nothing. \nThe key to success is understanding. The more you can learn about the proper, most effective and most efficient way to maximize your body's potential, the better off you will be, and the sooner you will see those goals.
