Suspect apprehended at College Mall after crime at nearby bank

A robbery suspect was arrested in connection with Tuesday's unarmed robbery at Fifth Third Bank's eastside location. \nBloomington Police arrested 25-year-old Renee Christine Jackson, a Bloomington resident, and formally charged her with robbery. \nDet. David Drake of the Bloomington Police Department said at 10:37 a.m. on Tuesday, police received the robbery call. Witnesses told police the suspect walked into the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money.\nThe note read: "This is a robbery. I want $4,000."\nThe initial description of the robber was a 5-foot-6-inch, 200-pound white male. Drake said officer Dan Harrell saw someone who fit the robber's description going into the east entrance of College Mall.\nJackson walked into the women's restroom in the mall and was taken into custody as she walked out. Drake said witnesses later identified her as being the robber. Although the amount of money taken by the suspect was not clear, Jackson had the money in her possession, according to the police report.\nThe Whitehall location of Fifth Third Bank was robbed about two years ago, Sam Tavy, a manager at the local branch, said but declined to comment further on yesterday's robbery. No one at the bank's regional offices could be reached. \nThe Monroe County prosecutor's office said Jackson's probable cause report was being processed today, and the office of Div. 5 Judge Douglas Bridges said Jackson's initial hearing will be tomorrow.
