An automobile wreck Thursday evening involving two IU students left a hefty cleanup for police and fire units and two students shaken by the incident.\nIUPD Officer Shannon Bunger was dispatched to the scene at 7:54 p.m. The accident occurred at the intersection of 13th Street and Walnut Grove Avenue, adjacent to the southwest corner of McNutt Quad. Senior Dane Mamula was travelling west on 13th when his Toyota Corolla collided with another vehicle. \nBunger said sophomore Michael E. Cooper's black SUV, heading south on Walnut Grove, ran the stop sign at the intersection just prior to impact. Mamula's car struck Cooper's driver's side, causing the SUV to then overturn, skidding south along Walnut Grove. \nCooper was immediately transported to Bloomington Hospital. At press time, Cooper was still waiting to see a doctor.\nWhile both drivers were shaken by the accident, neither suffered extensive injuries, Bunger said.\n"I was just shaken up by the impact and the airbags," Mamula said. "My first thought was, 'Jesus Christ, someone could be dead,' but then I saw (Cooper) climbing out of the passenger side window -- he was all right."\nAlthough Cooper suffered a cut to his head, Mamula said he was surprised how lucky they both were in avoiding injury.\n"It's pretty unbelievable that he wasn't seriously injured," he said. "He was so hysterical -- the poor kid. He kept muttering about telling his parents what happened…Once I struck the driver, the airbags deployed -- next thing I know his car is on its side skidding down the street."\nFreshmen Matt Kubal and G. Ryan Corcus live on the ground floor of McNutt. They both heard the accident from the room window.\n"We came out after we heard; supposedly the two drivers walked away," Kubal said. "This is at least the third accident at this intersection this year."\nCorcus said he thinks the intersection needs to be changed.\n"What they need," he said, "is a four-way stop"
