O.D.B. needs out of the clink so his raps won't stink

The Trials and Tribulations of Russell Jones\nOl' Dirty Bastard\nD3 Entertainment\nAs a huge Ol' Dirty Bastard fan, I was surprised to hear he was releasing an album. The last I had heard, O.D.B. was in prison for a while. \nSo I was asking myself how he could have a new album come out if he has been in prison, and this is the point when my skepticism about this record started. Then I heard that the album had no production affiliation with the RZA or any other Wu-Tang related producers. I also found out that O.D.B. had been dropped from Elektra, his former record company, and now was signed to D3 entertainment, which is a West Coast record label. Then I found out that no one from the Clan appears on the disc. Instead the album features guests such as Insane Clown Posse, Too Short, Mack 10 and E-40. So I was apprehensive when I put this disc into my CD player. My prediction was accurate. \nEvery song on this album feels rushed, like the record company just threw a bunch of sloppy songs together just to release an album with O.D.B.'s name on it, like they didn't care too much what it sounded like. Only two songs on the CD, "Zoo Two" and "C'mon" do not feature a guest, and not surprisingly, these are the only two songs worth mentioning. The actual time that O.D.B. spends rapping on the album is minimal and the quality is fair at best, it is not even remotely close to his best work. \nMany of the songs here feature previously existing verses from O.D.B. classics such as "Ghetto Superstar," "Recognize" and "Dogs**t." \nAlthough this album falls decidedly short, it still features the trademark O.D.B. screeching, hollering, babbling and just plain weirdness. If you are any kind of O.D.B. fan, pass on this one and keep listening to N***a Please and Return to the 36 Chambers, and continue waiting for Dirty to get out of prison and deliver another classic. \n
