Nothing but Tiger Tiger Woods, ya'll

'2002' shoots well under par

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2002\nRating: E for Everyone\nFor: Playstation 2, PC\nBy: EA Sports\nIf you can't stand the game of golf, hate the fact that someone gets paid millions of dollars to hit a little ball and don't understand why so many old men love spending hours on a course just to lose a bunch of balls in the water, then stay away from "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2002." But if you have the slightest interest in golf, go out and buy this game because it is the best links game on the field.\nMany changes have been made since previous versions of the game so you can truly get a realistic idea of what Tiger sees on a typical day. The greatness in this game comes through EA Sports combining a realistic simulation with a fun arcade feel. Gone are the swing-bars that have plagued so many golf games (every one of them) in the past. In real golf you don't get a percentage meter, so why should you in a video game? You have to use the analog stick, and time it perfectly so you get the full power of the swing. If your swing is off a bit, you will slice or hook it out of bounds. It really takes a great feel to get the hang of it. Putting is also more sensible because instead of seeing the green in a 3-D grid, your caddy tells you where the breaks are and you have to aim a certain distance away to make that birdie. The best thing added to this game is the pressure shot. Whenever you have an eagle putt, or a potential game-winning shot, a heartbeat can be heard in the background, and the controller will start beating in synch with the noise for added stress. \nSpeed golf is also introduced in this year's version. Beat the record by yourself or go up against a friend in a battle to get the lowest score and the fastest time. As in other games you can play tournaments (on seven courses, some real and some fantasy), have a match, stroke or skins game, but the real game is in "Tiger's Challenge." You start off as a mediocre golfer with your own name, and you have to beat other pros and made-up hackers to get money, skill, new courses and new golfers. There are also a number of different scenarios that you can play to win cash and trophies. You might have to stage a comeback with five holes left, or get birdies on all of the par 3s on a course. This game will last a while in your machine.\nRemember, if you hate golf, don't bother with "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2002," it's not made for your kind. But if watching Tiger Woods is a fun-filled day for you, then just imagine how much fun it will be to be him.\n
