Steel aims to increase communication

Junior Jeff Wuslich, the Steel ticket candidate for student body president, is back in action on campus, campaigning to further his leadership experience in the IU Student Association.\n"I just know I want to help people," Wuslich said. \nAfter being involved in IUSA for the last two years, currently serving as vice president of administration, Wuslich has helped initiate new programs under the current leadership. The Illuminator, The Lecture Series, and a new Student Rights Program are only a few of the programs Wuslich hopes to continue to further aid communication between the student body, IUSA Congress and the administration, in addition to helping student groups promote their activities.\n"Never count out experience," Wuslich said, advocating the Steel party -- who he said can get the job done. \n"Drawing from my past involvement, I have knowledge, know-how, and campus connections to get things done," he said.\nA graduate from Penn High School in Granger, Ind., Wuslich is majoring in sociology and is studying to become an Emergency Medical Technician. He hopes to attend graduate school to study organizational behavior.\n"I just want to help people," Wuslich said, and he hopes to continue doing just that by not only helping the student body but also preparing for a career dedicated to saving lives.\nWuslich said his role model is his father, Gary Wuslich, who has always told him to "use the big I," which meant to take initiative and always step up to the challenge and achieve his goal.\nWuslich hopes to continue accomplishing his goals at IU by winning the election Feb. 26-27 and scoring another chance to work with University administration.\n"The biggest problem at IU is the huge advantage the administration has over students; they can outwait any issue," Wuslich said. "They know students are only here for four years, and they know students only take a leadership role for maybe two years. Most administrators are here for much longer and can just wait for you to graduate instead of helping you solve your problem."\nBut life for Wuslich isn't all work and no play. Although he admits his favorite television show is The Simpsons, the Eagle Scout spends most of his free time outdoors.\n"I love to hike, camp and be outdoors," Wuslich said.\nAround campus you can count on seeing Wuslich darting around in his '88 Plymouth Voyager mini-van, which he affectionately calls "her."\nWuslich said if students vote for Steel, they will be voting for a party of strength, "with several underclassmen ready to carry on our issues for as long as it takes."\nWuslich's strength as a leader is also an important point when deciding who to support, junior Nina Onesti said. \n"I think Jeff is a very strong leader and I have seen him do some really great things this past year. He has a great passion for what he does," she said.\n"Student leaders have to be visionaries -- full of commitment, patience, and determination -- whose focus is the students and their needs. Jeff Wuslich embodies everything a leader is.
