Meet the new queen of anti-pop

Purge\nBif Naked\nLava/Atlantic Records\nBif Naked is the embodiment of everything that is an overnight sensation. Her American debut, I Bificus, lacked media support, and still managed to move several thousand copies from store shelves. Following sales of the album, Bif found herself on the bill for the Vans Warped Tour, receiving some video play, and now owns her own record label. \nHer sophomore disc, Purge, keeps the style that made her first album so enjoyable. The tracks are catchy, honest and easy to relate to. The confused punk rock prom queen that is Bif Naked writes songs about real life; her life anyway. \nSeveral of her songs deal with relationships, both good and bad. However, the album is not as stale as the subject matter leads one to believe. The first single, "I Love Myself Today," deals with her first marriage and the divorce that was filed the same afternoon.\nEven though it's not a large percentage of the content, Bif did manage to some write songs about her life outside of boys. The album includes songs about growing up without her parents, relationships with friends, struggles with music and general loneliness. \nThe next single, "Leader," is slated for a late February release, and Bif is anticipating strong support from radio and MTV. The song is an anthem of independence and acts as a verbal middle finger to her critics, ex-boyfriends and enemies; her own musical time out.\nNumerous styles were infused to make Purge one of the most enjoyable releases in months. After several listens, one can find influences ranging from punk to hip-hop to alternative rock. \nThe album is a general emotional roller-coaster ride, but the ride is fun and certainly worth the price of admission.\n
