Don't let anger, hate get the best of you

Dear Students, An Islamic teaching colleague of mine and, separately, a Malaysian girl studying at IU were roughed up Tuesday and Wednesday by a couple of male students. Listen, guys, I understand the anger -- I am witnessing it as it courses hogwild through my own veins -- but please, let's not sink to the level of the terrorists. There are many many fine people at IU from the Middle East who, just like you and me, abhor what happened on the East Coast. You and I, Hoosiers, Americans, are not the only people suffering this ordeal. \nDon't assume a brown face means a terrorist or a sympathizer. And please pass this message around. This is a big University but a small community, and word can get around fast. Don't victimize innocent people.
