Classes should have been canceled after tragedy

Indiana University, you have committed the crime of blasphemy. I cannot believe that the University would still hold classes in the wake of the most egregious crime in United States history. It was almost "OK" to hold classes on the national holiday Labor Day, but this is just pure, 100 percent blatant apathy.\nI am a native New Yorker, who for the past 72 hours has been trying to persist in my daily routine. But as I try I have become distracted by the pictures of fireman sifting through pieces of shrapnel and seeing the planes crash into the World Trade Center again and again. Am I missing something here? Not one, but two planes crashed into the World Trade Center.\nThis tragedy is ineffable. It feels like I was one of the people in the buildings. My "home" has been turned upside down by the paralyzing affects of the terrorist attacks. I have read that the streets of New York, known for being packed with people going in all sorts of directions, are now dismal. I hope I'm not hallucinating, let me feel my head to be sure that I'm feeling fine.\nAs I and other people from the Tri-State region are trying to get in touch with our loved ones, I feel that the administration at IU has not sympathized with me and probably the rest of the student body. A day of reflection where we can call our parents, friends, relatives, etc, to see if they are OK and for all the students to try to push ahead. \nI know that being a freshman in college is a period of adjusting and acclimating into a new environment and this usually takes a period of time to feel comfortable. IU's actions have now made this transition a bit harder.
