Robbers invade local home

A fifty-year-old Monroe County woman was held at gunpoint in her house in southern Monroe County Tuesday while robbers looted her home.\nAccording to a police report, the woman was startled from her sleep by a noise around 5:36 a.m. Tuesday. When she went to investigate, she was confronted in her hallway by a young white male wearing a dark sweatshirt, jeans and a dark baseball cap. He brandished a chrome pistol.\nThe victim was then grabbed by a second man whom she described to police as being a tall black male in dark, silky pants and shirt with a stocking or cloth on his head. According to the report, the second suspect took her back into her bedroom, laid her face down on the bed, put a gun to her head and ordered her not to look at the two men.\n"They wanted more money, they wanted to know if there was more in the house," Monroe County Sheriff Department Captain Steve Chambers said.\nThe robbers then rummaged through the house looking for money and valuables and left the home with an unspecified amount of cash.\nThe victim freed herself and called for assistance.
