'Angel Eyes': Chick flick for guys?

Warning: Gentlemen, this movie is a chick-flick. I just want to let you know what you're getting yourself into by going to see this movie. Trailers for "Angel Eyes" lead viewers to believe this movie is about our favorite fly-girl Jennifer Lopez getting involved with a psycho. I was fooled too. I guess I should have taken a look at the director's movie credits first. They include "Message In a Bottle" (starring and sucking with Kevin Costner) and "When a Man Loves a Woman." \nJ. Lo plays Sharon Pogue, a tough street cop with a tough attitude. One day a mysterious man in a long black trenchcoat named Catch (James Caviezel) saves her life. J. Lo takes a liking to the strange man, but tries to pry into his past, where it seems he's hiding something.\nAt this point in the movie, you think he's hiding the fact that he's a psycho that is about to go loco and eat the kid living across the hall from him. This would make the movie interesting, but is kind of just a tease to keep you interested. Caviezel acts the role eerily well. He uses his long hands to add to his creepiness, as the digits and his scruffy face are the only color you see on his entire black - clad body. If I caught Caviezel peeping in my window, I would hide for a week.\nBut Catch's creepiness is disappointingly accredited to a car accident in which his wife and child were killed. J. Lo spends most of the movie trying to get Catch to open up to her about it. Meanwhile J. Lo also has to deal with family issues, such as her father and brother hating her because she got mad at them for being abusive. The rest of the movie is a sappy "I know they'll get together in the end" bit.\nJ. Lo turns in another solid, but somewhat dull performance in "Angel Eyes." Her acting is improving with each movie she makes. Her last two movies since "The Cell" have been chick-flicks, so I hope she doesn't make this a habit. Lopez strips down to her bra and underwear in one scene, showing her thunder thighs (they're still sexy, though). A sensuous sex scene follows where Catch and J. Lo do it in a state park.\nDespite being a chick flick, "Angel Eyes" is a decent watch. The plot, though in the end disappointing, is darker and creepier than a normal happy, high-spirited girl movie. For a chick-flick, "Angel Eyes" isn't too bad, just a little disappointing.
