Philanthropies not just social functions

In response to Jenna Zent's letter "Philanthropies just social events" (March 29), I would like to know the last philanthropy event she planned that raised money and was not fun to go to. \nThe point of these events is to have fun and to raise money at the same time. I don't feel Alpha Phi's philanthropy was a waste of good food, but a great event that raised $500 that would not have been raised otherwise. \nMy house (Chi Phi)'s philanthropy raised more than $13,000 and yet at the same time it was fun and good for the community. The next time you raise $13,000 at an event that doesn't emphasize having fun then you can talk, but until then just be glad that the greeks are raising this money for these organizations, and not worrying about if they wasted food or not!
