'IDS' ignores slave history

I have a few comments and questions for the staff and managing editor at the IDS. I am sure that a major part of your time was spent researching the topic of slavery before you made the decision to publish the racist (Horowitz) paid ($800) advertisement. Or, and I suspect this is the case, was the $800 just too good to pass up? Many groups, individuals and countries have sold their souls for a buck. Welcome current staff and managers, enjoy your "thirty pieces of silver."\nNow for my questions: are any of you "20- somethings" over there in Ernie Pyle Hall even remotely aware of the history of slavery? Are you aware of the inhumane and almost animal-like treatment, the lynchings, the beatings? The separation of families that my people went through due to slavery? Had you known this, would the $800 still look as good to you? Are you aware that the vestiges of slavery still exist today? Horowitz is a prime example of a mind that has been enslaved. Think about that…\nIn the event that you are faced with this type of racist propaganda again and are offered money to promote this type of offal, at least have some knowledge of the subject matter. I can very well understand why you as staff have been told to keep your mouth shut and not to express your opinions about this "paid" mess you find yourselves in; you are clueless about the history of slavery and the impact it has had on a race in this country.\nMight I suggest that before you attempt any more money-raising journalistic fiascoes, especially if they are to deal with my ancestors, that you visit the Department of Afro-American Studies and speak with our knowledgeable professors about our history, culture, triumphs and failures. Better still, enroll in a class. I am almost sure that my Great-great-grandmother Harris would have said, "Go to get me some learnin'." You, too, got to get some learnin'.
