I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to the IDS for running the Horowitz ad. It was the right thing to do, and contributes to the national debate about reparations. The IDS has proven itself to be a supporter of free speech and should make every effort in the future to continue to reject censorship, no matter how offensive the content might be to some people. \nThis ad injured no one except to the extent that they allowed themselves to be injured. Anyone who claims that this is an endorsement by the IDS is simply not being objective. Printing this ad is evidence that the IDS is committed to free speech. Besides, the ad is reflective of the widespread consensus among many Americans that are attuned to this issue. But printing this ad should not be considered a bold step. The IDS should not have even thought twice about it. That is my only disappointment.
