Hoosiers finish 15th on the road

The final district tournament for the men's golf team was similar to the team's other performances this spring.\nIU finished 15th in the Fossum Invitational in East Lansing, Mich., this weekend with a three-round score of 917. Northwestern won the tournament with a record score of one-under-par 851.\nOnce again, the Hoosiers started a tournament slowly as the team recorded a 312 in Saturday's opening round. IU improved by shooting a 300 in its second round, but faltered in the final found with a 305. \nSenior Steve Wheatcroft led IU with a score of 220, tying for 22nd place. Junior Rich Thomas tied for 51st with a score of 226. Northwestern's Luke Donald won the tournament with an 8-under score of 205. \nThe Hoosiers final tournament is next weekend's Big Ten championships. The 72-hole event will be contested May 4-6 in Champaign, Ill.
