Knight's better deeds easily outnumber his negative traits

I appreciated your kind comments about Coach Knight. He made Indiana basketball exciting to watch, even on a television in Ohio. \nI was once the recipient of his generosity. He had autographed a book of mine and I wrote to thank him. I mentioned that I was an avid Hoosier basketball fan even though I had never set foot in Bloomington. (I was born and raised in Huntington, Ind. -- Bob Hammel's hometown.) \nI said that if ever there came a time when I could get tickets to a game, it would be the thrill of a lifetime. Lo and behold, I came home to find a message on my answering machine to call the IU Athletics office. To make a long story short, my husband, my grandson and I attended the infamous game against Minnesota when he wouldn't let the players in the locker room at halftime because of their poor play.\nThere was no charge and the seats were great! I guess I could relate to some of his frustrations because I had raised six children of my own. \nAnyway, I thought it was fitting that you pointed out his better deeds, because they far outnumbered how many times he threw a chair, but you wouldn't know that by watching the media's version of him. I have other thank you notes from him too, which I treasure. I wish Coach Knight the best, too. Also the IU basketball team. I'm proud of them!
