After Seth Korona died earlier this month, the IU Police Department began a massive search into the events that ultimately resulted in the freshman's death. Police visited with friends, family and members of the Theta Chi fraternity where Korona had attended a party the Saturday before his untimely death.\nWeeks after the initial investigation, police continue to search for more clues and leads that might offer insight into what happened to Korona. IUPD Lt. Jerry Minger said the investigation is hitting a standstill, in part because students are not coming forward with information about what happened at the party. At the same time, police have said they are hearing rumors and other unconfirmed statements. They estimate that 600 people attended the party, but only 30 people -- less than 5 percent -- have offered information.\nAnyone with information must be willing to speak up. The case largely depends on details and eyewitness accounts that police need. Regardless of how miniscule the information might seem, the IUPD needs it to gather further knowledge of the incident. Without it, closing the case becomes all the more difficult. Not having the information also drags on the already agonizing experience for those who loved and cared about Korona. \nPolice believe that if more people come forward, they can find solutions to questions still unanswered. Minger stressed that those who come forward will not be judged, nor will the police department press charges against them for coming forward with information so late in the investigation. IUPD and the Korona family simply want answers, and the smallest clue as to what happened that night could help open the door to the truth about what went on at the Theta Chi party. \nWhile the experience can be difficult, this is not a time for students to be timid. The friends and family of Korona have experienced enough trauma -- a lengthy investigation would only add to their miseries and questions about what really happened to Korona in the days before he died. How would your family and friends feel if it was your death and no one was coming forward? Don't they deserve answers?\nComing forward is the best thing to do. The police department can finish putting the pieces of the case together and then begin closing it. Then, the family and friends of Korona might be able to begin putting what is perhaps the most difficult time of their lives behind them. Korona cannot be brought back. Coming forward is one way to honor him.
