Zell prejudiced toward Africa

This is in reaction to Brian Zell's dissent column Oct. 25 entitled "Why I support ELF (and you should too)" where he made an ignorant, prejudiced and insulting comment to the continent of Africa, its inhabitants and those whose ancestry traces back to that continent. \nIn Zell's zeal to "explain" the oil crisis under the pretext of why one should support ELF and its "activities", he presented the following position: "The Middle East has banded together to fix the supply of oil so it doesn't run out anytime soon. They know if they had no oil, we would change their name to Africa." \nUnless Zell professes otherwise, it's quite clear that his "theory" was intended to slight and degrade Africa (and implicitly all that it encompasses). \nIf his intent was humor it failed ... miserably. If his intent is satire ... the message is insulting. If his intent is to prove his point in why joining ELF for those who are concerned with the environment is a good thing ... his kind of help I don't need. Lastly, if his attitude represents that of the ELF membership ... delete my name from the mailing list now (of course, I'm sure it was never on it to begin with).
