Due to rain, Zach's and my managerial debuts were bumped back a day. But as expected we dominated, taking the reigns of the Cream squad and leading them to a 6-2 win over the Crimson. And by taking the reigns and leading them, I really mean we had no idea what we were doing and were more than thankful for the talent bestowed upon our lineup.

Zach wrote an entertaining column about his experience for Friday's IDS. Be sure to check it. Also, see the rest of this post for a cool photo, some notes and a quote from Blake Monar about his first trip to the bump as a Hoosier.

Some of the better performers Wednesday for the winning Cream squad were Sterling Mack, who was 2-for-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI, and Brian Ritz, who scored twice and showed off his cannon of an arm, gunning a runner at home on a relay.

On the mound, Kyle Leiendecker worked 5 innings with 4 strikeouts and only one earned run. Blake Monar was solid in his debut. The lefty worked 2 innings, letting up 2 hits.

Clearly out-managed the Crimson had a tougher day, but Jake Dunning looked very good, as I was told he did in the first game. Offensively, Dunning had two doubles a scored once. He also worked 2/3 of an inning, getting two outs on six pitches.

Monar's thoughts after the game:

"It felt good. I've been kind of chomping at the bit a little bit. It's been so long but trying to get back into the groove a little bit and try and help the Cream to a series win here.

"The stuff wasn't real great but you don't really need great stuff all the time. But obviously the first two innings of the fall my stuff is not going to be there. But I found other ways to get guys out and my teammates made plays behind me."

Monar said he has adjusted to team really well and that he thinks the Hoosiers have the opportunity to do big things.
