Hey folks,

The Hoosiers are creeping closer and closer to the promised land, but they almost hit a serious bump in the road. IU took a 7-3 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning of game two today, but the Spartans rallied furiously, scoring three runs but falling just short of pulling out a come-from-behind win.

Sophomore Matt Bashore went the full seven innings, giving up eight hits and six runs, while only striking out four. Not as shutdown as he usually is, but he got the jb done for the Hoosiers. Josh Phegley, Jerrud Sabourin and Andrew Means each had two hits for the Hoosiers in the first of two games today. With Michigan up 2-1 in the second in their first game today against Northwestern, things are looking up for the Hoosiers' postseason aspirations.

A quick update from the ballyard: The Hoosiers batted around plus one in the top of the first, sending 10 batters to the plate and scoring six of them. They've staked Chris McCombs, a senior who told me his one unfinished goal as a Hoosier is to make a Big Ten Tournament, to a six-run lead. Stay with Inside Pitch tonight to see if he can hold onto it.
