Bloomington police are searching for a 39-year-old man who was accused of shooting the new boyfriend of his 26-year-old ex-girlfriend in her house last Wednesday morning.

The woman's 26-year-old new boyfriend was taken to Monroe Hospital in Bloomington by relatives before he was transported by helicopter to St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital to treat a gunshot wound to his pelvis.

A 20-year-old woman who was visiting the house to braid the girlfriend’s hair was also hit in the shoulder and back by two bullets.

The 20-year-old woman's relatives drove her to the hospital. She was released from IU Health Bloomington on Wednesday.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire at a home on the 2300 block of South Milton Drive at 12:30 early Wednesday morning.

Police spoke to the 26-year-old woman who said she was with her three young children at the house when the shooting took place.

She said she was in the kitchen getting her hair braided by the 20-year-old woman while her children were in the living room.

The woman told police her ex-boyfriend, who is the father of her children, used his house key to get in. She reported he then shot at her new boyfriend with a handgun.

The suspect then ran out of the house and drove away in a vehicle he parked and left with its engine running in the driveway, according to witnesses.
